A personal invitation to join from Judith Hanson Lasater

Dear One:
I hope this New Year finds you with a deeper connection to your practice and your teaching, if that is your path.
The world is a difficult place these days for many people, and I am guessing you, like me, want to help.
An important way we can help is to keep practicing and keep offering class where our students can find refuge and hope.

While I am slowly beginning to teach less and less, I am definitely going to be in St.Paul, Minnesota, in April, and teaching a five day workshop. To be totally truthful, the sponsor and I seriously considered canceling or postponing this workshop because of the social situation. But we have decided that we are choosing to keep our original April dates: Monday the 13th to Friday the 17th.
We are making a choice to continue teaching, learning, growing, and sharing this yoga we love so well.
We are taking a stand.
We hope you will join us.

The title of the workshop is: The Sacred Column, and is one of my favorite workshops to teach. We will explore each section of the vertebral column in detail, and how asana can affect each part of the spine by the way we practice our poses. Therapeutic aspects of spinal movement will be discussed. One of the major themes is: The spinal curves are not a mistake! Tucking is out; natural curves are in. Come find out more. Recent students have kindly said this was one of the most useful courses they have ever taken, both for themselves and their students.

I hope to see you in April; we have a spacious and beautiful place to practice and learn, and I know we will find support and kindness as we gather.

Come home to your mat and sangha in St. Paul. We are all waiting for you.
Sending love across the skies….
Namaste,
Judith 🙏🏼🌺😌

Training Description

Devanadi warmly welcomes back Judith Hanson Lasater LIVE IN PERSON!
Study each section of the vertebral column individually and then note how the column interacts with the pelvis and shoulder girdle.

Have you ever wished you knew more about anatomy so you could help your students more effectively as well as deepen your own practice? Maybe you have felt unsure about where to learn more? Or maybe you are intimidated about how to learn more about anatomy and how it effects movement, specifically in yoga asana? Then this course is made just for you!

We will study each section of the vertebral column individually and then note how the column interacts with the pelvis and shoulder girdle.

In the morning sessions we will start with theory and then immediately practice Active asana so you can feel the principals at work in your body and observe it in others. The afternoons will be focused on Quiet asana so we can understand what part the vertebral column plays in pranayama, meditation, and Restorative practice.

The spine is at the core of the body as well as being the basic structure through which we practice asana and move our energy.

This 30-hour professional training will focus specifically on the vertebral column using lecture and demonstration. An emphasis will be on the immediate application of what we learn to the art of practicing and teaching yoga.

We will pursue such concerns as what makes each region different, how do specific poses effect each region, as well as how we can teach in ways that both protect and healthily move the vertebral column.

Props & other items to bring

We only have a limited number of props that we like to reserve for out of town guests. Please plan on bringing your own props so everyone can be supported. You will be able to leave them overnight in the locked event space. + Check back as we are confirming the list with Judith.
