Denise A. Alston, PhD
Yoga became a central part of Denise Alston’s life in 1999, and leads yoga ethics and philosophy workshops in devanadi’s yoga teacher trainings.
She later received her 500-hour credentials after several years of study in Tantra Hatha yoga and is initiated in the Sri Vidya lineage of the Himalayan Masters. She has expanded her spiritual palette to include an Ayurveda Yoga Specialist certificate from the Himalayan Institute and a yoga philosophy – grounded process of leading people inward to their Divine Purpose. Other influences on her spiritual path have been Craig Hamilton and Sally Kempton. After 13 years of teaching group yoga and meditation classes, she now primarily serves individual clients with a customized blend of Tantra hatha asana, meditation, pranayama, Ayurveda, and life coaching..
Denise also spent 30 years advocating for local, state, and federal policies to benefit underserved students and the adults who serve them. Building on her presentation skills, organizational development knowledge, graduate training in social psychology, and experience in organizing for social justice, Denise has come to this moment with a desire to inspire the yoga community to draw upon the fruits of its practices for the purpose of generating collective action that will shape a world in which freedom and well-being are accessible to all. This is the work of “From Individual Radiance to Collective Glow.”
